GEORGE TOWN: Penangites looking for leech oil, said to be able to boost one’s libido, need not travel to the Klang Valley as locals and foreigners are also offering the stimulant product in the state.
A foreigner, believed to be of Indian origin, claimed that only a few drops of leech oil were needed.
“You drip some on your organ and massage it for five to 10 minutes. Then, wipe it off with a clean cloth. Don’t wash. You will be bigger and stronger,” he claimed when met at the Lorong Kulit flea market. He first offered to sell a vial of
the pungent and herbal-smelling
oil for RM50, before reducing the price to RM20.
“This leech oil is from India. We have been making it for generations,” he said in Bahasa Malaysia and showed laminated posters with faded pictures of massive leeches.
On Friday, The Star highlighted on its front page that unregistered health products were easily available in the heart of a bustling shopping district in Kuala Lumpur.
Several shoplots were covertly operating as illegal clinics and pharmacies manned by “doctors” from Bangladesh.
In Butterworth, more foreigners along with Malaysians were seen selling leech oil on the weekends.
A local man at the Rope Walk Bagan flea market in Taman Selat said there was high demand for the oil, which goes for RM20 to RM30 for a small bottle.
But he said they faced competition from other aphrodisiac products in the market.
“There are candies that some claim will have the same effect, along with a spray which others say can last for 24 hours.
“I do not know if it is true but some people prefer to buy the spray as they do not need to spend time applying the oil,” he said.
But he claimed that many of his regular customers trusted the leech oil.
According to information online, leech oil is a traditional concoction made with buffalo leeches from swamps and rivers that typically feed on large mammals such as cattle.
The belief is that the leech’s flexibility and ability to lengthen itself substantially will be imparted to the male organ if the man regularly rubs the oil onto it.
