KUALA LUMPUR: A senior citizen, who attempted to smuggle cigarettes, was arrested at the Kong Kong intersection in Pasir Gudang.
General Operations Force central brigade commander Senior Asst Comm Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said the 61-year-old suspect was arrested at 2.20am yesterday.
“We found 220 cartons of cigarettes in the boot and on the back seat of his car.
“The suspect was spotted driving a Proton Iswara in a suspicious manner,” he said, adding that the red Yuxi brand cigarettes were valued at RM10,400.
SAC Abdul Ghani said initial investigations showed that the suspect had been supplying smuggled cigarettes to Kong Kong and Masai in Johor. — Bernama
