Azis: Syndicate using Warisan logo to dupe illegals

KOTA KINABALU: A syndicate is selling “government” application forms with the Parti Warisan Sabah logo to trick illegal immigrants into believing that they will be legalised, says the Deputy Home Minister.

Datuk Azis Jamman said such syndicates were preying on gullible illegal immigrants who were ready to pay for such false documents.

Azis, who is also Warisan Youth chief, said it had never issued any documents, especially those with the logo currently being spread on social media.

“Where in the world do government documents have political party logos?” he asked, questioning the motive of those spreading such claims via social media like WhatsApp.

He also said the purported documents had the old logo for the National Registration Department (NRD).

Claiming that a police report would be lodged, Azis confirmed that there was no exercise to register illegal immigrants – either by the Immigration Department or the NRD.

Azis also called on the Opposition to stop harping on claims that Warisan was giving out documents to illegal immigrants.

“The Opposition has continued with its baseless claims that are being spread on social media and now, syndicates are taking advantage of it,” he said.

“Whatever migrant issues we face now were left behind by the previous Sabah Barisan Nasional government and being cleaned up by Warisan under the due process of the country’s laws,” he said.
