KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized over RM172,000 worth of synthetic drugs following the arrest of two men in Cheras here.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said personnel from the Cheras Narcotic Crime Investigation Department conducted two raids on Wednesday (May 22) which led to the arrest and seizures.
"We first arrested a 38-year-old local man at the parking lot of a condominium at Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras at around 3.50pm.
"We checked the bag he was carrying and found two plastic packets containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing at 2.07kg.
"The suspect was unemployed and has a prior record for drug related crimes in 2008," he said, adding that the drugs could supply over 4,000 users.
ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said just a few hours later, they arrested an Iranian man at the lobby of a shopping mall at Jalan Peel here.
"We checked the suspect and found two plastic packets containing a substance believed be Ketamin weighing over 1kg.
"The 27-year-old suspect could not produce any identification documents and only verbally told us that he was from Iran," he said. adding that the drugs were worth about RM61,485.
He said both suspects have been remanded to help with investigations into drug trafficking.
