Police detains man for murder

KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old man has been detained in connection with the murder of an event planner at Residensi Bestaria in Ukay Perdana on May 12.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect was picked up at the Sri Jaya Apartment in Ukay Perdana at about 1.30pm on Tuesday.

“He is definitely a person of interest in the case. He has been remanded until Tuesday,” he said.

On May 12, a 33-year-old event planner was found murdered at his apartment at Residensi Bestaria. He was found at about 1am.

Ampang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan had said police found stab wounds on the victim’s chest and abdomen.

He also urged anyone with information to contact the police.

In Miri, Bernama reported that three drug pushers, including two Vietnamese women, were arrested during a raid at a luxury residence in Tanjung Lobang.

Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Sahar Abdul Latif said in a statement yesterday that during the 11am raid on Tuesday various types of drugs worth RM82,201 and jewellery worth RM30,752 were seized.

“The three suspects are a 24-year-old local man and two Vietnamese women in their 20s,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
