Vietnamese man killed after car driven by friend crashes into divider

PONTIAN: A Vietnamese man was killed while his two female friends escaped with injuries following an accident at KM58.1 along Jalan Johor Baru-Pontian here on Wednesday (May 22) morning.

The 27-year-old man, identified as Le Vinh Su, suffered injuries on the head, while the other two, Thai Thi Cam Loan, 33, and Dao Thi Cam Tu, 32, suffered multiple injuries on the face, body and head.

Pontian OCPD Supt Mustafa Bakri Salleh said the accident occurred at 3.10am.

Thai – who was driving the Toyota Avanza – lost control of her car, crashed into a road divider and hit a pole.

“Investigations revealed that prior to the accident, the trio was from Pontian heading to Pekan Nenas.

“The male victim, who was the back passenger, was killed on the scene due to head injuries,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (May 22).

He added that the other two victims were currently undergoing treatment at Pontian Hospital.

He said the case was being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987.
