PETALING JAYA: In conjunction with Teachers Day, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong thanked all his teachers who have guided him.
While studying in primary and secondary school, Dr Wee said that he had various teachers of different races who had contributed a lot and guided him during his schooling years.
"There is no space if I were to mention them one by one.
"But among them was Cikgu Zainal Ali. He was among the teachers I respect the most, as he trained me to be King's Scout in 1986, and more than half the school joined the school's scout in 1985," Dr Wee wrote in a Facebook post Thursday (May 16).
Zainal was Dr Wee's former Form One Mathematics teacher and scout master at Sekolah Menengah Datuk Bendahara in Jasin, Melaka.
Dr Wee also recalled a time when he and four other classmates waited for Zainal's wedding kenduri ceremony in Kg Kandang, Air Molek, Melaka.
"Now, Cikgu Zainal has retired, and has a few grandchildren. He has also been given the titled "Datuk" (grandfather) for life," Dr Wee added.
He also posted a picture of himself and Zainal breaking fast in an undisclosed location.
In thanking Zainal and all his former teachers, Dr Wee ended the post with the hashtag #TerimaKasihCikgu (Thank you, teacher).
In less than an hour after the post was published, it received over 1,600 likes, with many applauding Dr Wee.
