GEORGE TOWN: They were supposed to get married next year.
But at about 2.30am yesterday, nurses Andy Meyrick, 25, and his fiancee Jusse D. Dolisip, 29, died when their car hit a bus stop and turned turtle along Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
They were supposed to get married either on Feb 2 or 20 next year, said a family member who declined to be named.
The Sabahan pair, both Penang Adventist Hospital staff members, met while studying at Adventist College of Nursing and Health Sciences, she said.
She said she called Dolisip often and that they last spoke on Sunday.
“The accident came as a shock to us. I think she was heading home after work.
“Usually, the two of them would commute together,” she said.
Dolisip’s best friend Jessy Binson, 29, said they had been buddies since primary school.
“Two years ago, she came back from Saudi Arabia just to attend my wedding because she promised to do so.
“But I would not be able to attend her wedding as she has now left us.
“My dear BFF galanggud, I will miss you,” she said in a post shared online.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said Andy was found in the driver’s seat and Dolisip was in the passenger seat.
“We believe they were heading from the jetty towards Relau.
“They hit a bus stop along the expressway and then collided with a parked van.
“Firemen were able to remove the bodies, which were trapped in the wreckage, within two and a half hours,” he said.
The bodies were send to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.
