JITRA: An 11-year-old boy died when his neck got entangled in a curtain tie-back that was hung on a baby spring cradle.

Muhammad Nur-Eman Al-Rahdie Noreffendi was playing with his two younger siblings in the master bedroom before the freak accident at about 4pm on Saturday.

“His sister alerted their parents after seeing him unconscious,” said Kubang Pasu acting OCPD Deputy Supt Chien Chunng Tsaur.

The parents were sleeping in another room at their rented house in Taman Belimbing here.

“After releasing him from the rope with a knife, his father performed CPR on him,” said DSP Chien.

“With the help of neighbours, they sent the boy to the Jitra Hospital. But he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
