Man splashes hot water on jobless son

GEORGE TOWN: A man was arrested at his house in Gelugor here for allegedly splashing hot water on his 35-year-old jobless son.

Apparently, the 66-year-old man had a quarrel with his son over financial matters, George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said.

“According to the son, his late mother had bought insurance for the family.

“When the policy matured a few years ago, the father had claimed the money and divided it among the children, except the victim.

“The victim claimed that his father, who is a prawn monger, handed him a RM10 note through a window of the house when he demanded RM30,000 from him.

“However, when he went towards the window, he was splashed with hot water,” he said.

ACP Che Zaimani said the father, who was arrested on Thursday, had since been released on police bail.

The victim, who is the youngest among four siblings, suffered burns on his face and body, ACP Che Zaimani said.

“He sought treatment at Penang Hospital. He also lodged a police report later,” he said.

ACP Che Zaimani said the case would be investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
