IPOH: A proposal by a private company to expand the current Sultan Azlan Shah Airport looks promising, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
He said the company recently held a briefing during a state executive council meeting on their proposal.
However, Ahmad Faizal said the state government could not decide on the matter on its own, but would need to discuss with the Transport Ministry and Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd.
“But the state government welcomes a private-public sector collaboration on the project,” he told reporters after attending a bubur lambuk-making event held by the Ipoh City Council at Dataran MBI here.
On whether the proposed new airport project at Seri Iskandar would still continue if the expansion were to take place at the current airport, Ahmad Faizal said that matter had not been discussed yet.
On another matter, Ahmad Faizal said the state executive councillors (exco) would be sworn-in again soon as required every year.
But prior to that he needed to have meetings with the Pakatan Harapan leadership and also to present the list to the Sultan of Perak.
When asked if there would be any changes to the list of the exco members, Ahmad Faizal said.
“I don’t see why there needs to be any changes, but like I said, I need to get the views of the Pakatan leadership, and the posts are the prerogative of the Sultan of Perak,” he added.
