Najib touches down in Sandakan, but Mat Sabu gets off plane first

PETALING JAYA: Former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu arrived in Sandakan on the same flight on Friday (May 10).

Najib, on his social media accounts posted a video of Mohamad, who is also known as Mat Sabu getting off the plane, followed by Najib and were both greeted by airport staff.

It is believed that the duo landed at the Sandakan Airport on Friday afternoon.

"The person in front of me is the Defence Minister. Make sure you know who he is," posted Najib.

He added that he "followed Mat Sabu to Sandakan".

"The seafood here is fresh. He may be playing 'masak-masak' (cooking) later," he quipped.

The Sandakan by-election campaign period ends at 11.59pm Friday as polling day is on Saturday (May 11).

The by-election sees DAP's Vivian Wong squaring off against Parti Bersatu Sabah's Linda Tsen in a five-cornered fight.

Others in the race as independents are former Sabah PAS and former Sabah Parti Amanah Negara chairman Hamzah Abdullah, businessman Chia Siew Yung and former political worker Sulaiman Abdul Samat.
