SANDAKAN: After being charged with three counts of corruption, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin made his first appearance in the Sandakan by-election campaign to push for an upset over Pakatan Harapan in the DAP stronghold.
The Sabah Umno chief kickstarted his campaign in support of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) candidate Datuk Seri Linda Tsen with a ceramah in Kampung Sim Sim on Monday night, whose residents are mostly Muslim bumiputra.
He sent a strong message to DAP that Umno has mobilised its machinery to track down 9,700 party members who are set to vote in this parliamentary by-election.
“We cannot let outsiders determine our future. My advice to locals – it’s high time we got back the rights for Sabahans. Return Sandakan to PBS,” he said.
At the same time, he challenged the authorities to investigate Pakatan leaders over their controversies.
“Investigate Pakatan. Don’t just investigate the opposition. Don’t be one-sided,” he said as he took the Election Commission and electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0 to task for purportedly allowing Pakatan leaders to organise dinners and luncheons.
“They are practising double standards ... but that’s okay. Most importantly, we must come out in droves to vote,” he said.
