SANDAKAN: A total of 270 early voters for the Sandakan by-election are expected to cast their votes for the parliamentary seat on Tuesday (May 7).
They involve policemen who will be voting at the Marine Police Force senior officers' mess and Sandakan police district headquarters club house, the Election Commission (EC) said in a statement Monday (May 6).
"The voting centre at the marine police mess will be open from 8am until 2pm, while the second voting centre at the club house will be open from 8am until noon.
"The voting process will be monitored by agents from each candidate and election observers from organisations and NGOs appointed by the EC.
"The EC will also air the process via live streaming through the EC's Facebook page," said EC chairman Azhar Azizan Harun.
There are 40,131 voters under the Sandakan parliamentary seat, including early voters and absent voters.
Azhar said all ballot boxes for the early votes will be kept at the police lock-up and counting will be done on polling day on Saturday (May 11) at the counting centre at SMJK Tiong Hua Sandakan.
