SHAH ALAM: A man beat his best friend to death after he caught him blackmailing his wife over nude photographs.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the incident occurred on Friday (May 3) at the couple's house in Sungai Buloh.
"The victim, in his 20s, had been friends with the suspect since school and frequently visited the couple's house.
"During one of the visits, the victim had secretly took images of the wife bathing," he said during a press conference at Selangor police headquarters on Monday (May 6).
He added that the victim then allegedly blackmailed the wife for money and sex.
"This went on for some time before the husband found out.
"He got his wife to lure the man to the house and confronted him with two other friends," SAC Fadzil said.
He said the victim had his phone smashed and was beaten to death.
"All four, in their 20s, including the wife, have been arrested and remanded for a week to assist in the investigations.
In a separate case, police have arrested a gang of convenience store robbers.
SAC Fadzil said the gang of six robbers had been terrorising 24-hour convenience stores in the Klang Valley since January with 27 cases connected to them.
The total losses from the robberies amounted to about RM68,000.
"We managed to track them down to several locations in Selangor and nabbed all six, aged 21 to 26, on Saturday (May 4)," he said.
SAC Fadzil said the group members were violent and dangerous, wielding machetes and even injured a person during one of their robberies.
"Thanks to information from the public, we managed to arrest them.
"Two motorcycles and three machetes were among the items seized during the arrests," he said.
All six tested positive for drugs and most had prior criminal record relating to robbery, car theft and drugs.
