KOTA KINABALU: Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has confirmed that former Sabah deputy chief minister Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah wishes to join Parti Warisan Sabah.
“He met me the other day and said for the sake of Sabah's struggle, he is willing to join Warisan,” Shafie said during an event here on Friday (May 3).
“I’m sure it would benefit the government because he is not only a lawyer but a man with vast experience,” he added.
Shafie said every bit of support the government got was important.
Tan, a former Sabah Gerakan chairman, was a Tanjung Papar assemblyman. He left Gerakan in April this year.
He lost the Tanjung Papar seat in last year's general election to Sabah DAP deputy chairman, Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, who got a 5,818 majority win.
Shafie is expected to hold a press conference in Sandakan soon to announce Tan’s decision to join Warisan.
