PETALING JAYA: Details of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) should be publicly disclosed, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
"Yesterday in China, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad witnessed the signing of three MoUs.
"One of the MoUs was the signing between MIDA and CCCC for the development of an industrial park, infrastructure, and a logistics hub that is involved with the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.
"There have not been many details revealed about this agreement as reported by our local media.
"This is unusual as it involves a huge development which is the industrial park and a logistics hub. This should have been the main headline to be publicised as it is one of the government's success," he said on his Facebook page on Friday (April 26).
Dr Wee questioned whether the silence was related to the allegations by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who claimed that MIDA had given the CCCC thousands of acres of land.
"Disclose the contract details of this MoU and come clean about any possible side agreements made in the ECRL project," he said.
Dr Wee also called on Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to reveal whether a tax exemption was given to CCCC for its work on the ECRL project.
