RM67.6mil lost due to cybercrimes early this year

LABUAN: Cybercrimes involving losses of RM67.6mil from 2,207 cases were reported during the first three months of this year, said Com­mu­­nications and Multimedia Minis­try (KKMM) deputy secretary-general Shakib Ahmad Shakir.

He said the three most common types of cybercrimes were cheating via telephone calls which recorded 773 cases with RM26.8mil in losses, cheating in online purchases with 811 cases (RM4.2mil) and the “African Scam” with 371 cases (RM14.9mil).
