IPOH: Perak executive councillor Dr Abdul Aziz Bari denies he is part of any plot to oust Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
“This is silly, illogical and does not make sense. The candidate for an MB's post is decided by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council and the name is then sent to the palace for approval.
“So as far as I am concerned, there is no plot on my part to bring down the MB, but I cannot speak for others,” he told reporters at the sidelines of the state legislative assembly sitting here on Tuesday (April 23).
The Tebing Tinggi assemblyman took a swipe at The Star for reporting on his claim that the undivided support for Ahmad Faizal only lasted for one hour.
In our frontpage Tuesday, Abdul Aziz was quoted as saying that he had attended Monday's (April 22) press conference “on orders”.
At that same press conference, all 10 Perak exco members, including Abdul Aziz, gave their undivided support to Ahmad Faizal.
Abdul Aziz said he had yet to read the published article but had been sent a WhatsApp message about it.
He also said that he was in no position to tell reporters how to do their jobs.
“There are a lot of things I said and it is impossible for me to say what to publish and what not to. But reporters must use their judgement on what to write about.
“I know there is freedom of press – but at certain times the media has their own agenda,” he alleged.
Aziz Bari said he is a team player.
“I am here because of the party (DAP), I don't decide on this or that, or what portfolio I hold and so on.
“What has been reported is a misinterpretation and it ridicules the pledge made by exco members on supporting the MB,” he added.
The Star has once again reviewed audio recordings and WhatsApp messages, and we stand by our reporting.
Abdul Aziz also refused to comment on Ahmad Faizal's remarks that he (Abdul Aziz) was being a thorn in his side because he wanted to be Mentri Besar.
“I don't want to say more because I am not here to topple the MB and neither is DAP. I cannot do that and I don't believe in that,” he added.
