BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two Nepalese men were brutally beaten up by passers-by in Jalan Bukit Minyak here after one of them allegedly molested a female Grab driver they were riding with.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the men, aged 23 and 29, had gotten into the 27-year-old woman’s car in Jalan Stesen and were on their way to Taman Juru when the incident occurred at 5.30pm on Friday.

“She had asked both the passengers to be seated behind but the 23-year-old attempted to climb onto the front seat of the car three times during the ride.

“After she repeatedly stopped him from doing so, she parked her car by the roadside to allow the man to exit the vehicle to get into the front seat in a proper manner,” he said.

ACP Nik Ros Azhan said the man then grabbed the woman’s hand and started kissing it before pulling her body close and touched her breast twice.

“When the man started to act aggressively and hugged her, she stopped her car in Jalan Bukit Minyak and sought help from passers-by who came to her aid.

“The crowd beat up both the Nepalese and apprehended them before police arrived at the scene,” ACP Nik Ros Azhan said.

Both men have been remanded for 14 days for investigation by the Immigration Department and under Section 354 of the Penal Code for use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.
