Three-year-old, father killed in Kluang crash

KLUANG (Bernama): An  accident at Kilometre 9, Jalan Kluang, near the Tech Wah Hong area here took the lives of a three-year-old girl and her father Saturday (April 20) afternoon.

Kluang district police chief ACP Mohd Abduh Ismail said Dhia Auni Batrisyia, 3, succumbed to her injuries soon after the 1.30pm incident while undergoing treatment at the Emergency Unit of the Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom (HEBHK) here. Her father, who was also the driver of the car they were travelling in, was killed on the spot.

"Three other family members, including the victim's twin Dhia Ainul Mardiah Muhamad Firdaus, 3; Mohd Fahmi Ramli, 26; and Norfazlina Mohd Shariff, 40; only sustained minor injuries in the two-vehicle collision.

"The driver of the other vehicle, an MPV, Muhamad Rohaizam Ramli, 37, and his four children, Asyraf Danial, 2; Muhamad Adam Danial, 9; Mohammed Aish Danial, 7; and Arissa Humaira, 5; also escaped with minor injuries," he said when contacted.

Mohd Abduh said the MPV was coming from Simpang Renggam to Kluang. Its driver was believed to have lost control and collided with the Kelisa, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Both vehicles will be taken to the Puspakom computerised vehicle inspection centre in Kluang, for further inspection. - Bernama
