Motorcyclist killed in accident on Penang Bridge

GEORGE TOWN: A 53-year-old factory worker was killed in an accident at the Penang Bridge today (April 20) after ramming his motorcycle into the left barrier of the bridge.

Shamsuddin Chat ran into the barrier of the bridge at KM5.9 while heading towards George Town from Kepala Batas.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said the victim was believed to have run into the barrier during the accident at 11.05am. 

"The victim is believed to have fallen off after the collision and died at the scene," he said. 

According to him, the body had been sent for a post-mortem at the Penang Hospital and that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for dangerous driving.
