KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested 16 people after raiding two online gambling dens here in Cheras.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said following a tip-off, police from Cheras CID launched two raids at Taman Miharja at around 10pm on Tuesday (April 16).
"First we raided a premises on the first floor of a shoplot and arrested five players (two Bangladeshi and three Pakistani men) and a caretaker, also a Bangladesh national, aged from 21 to 41.
"We also seized six laptops, three modems, two note books, and RM100 cash," he said adding that further investigations revealed the premises was opened just five days ago.
Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein added that in the second raid, police arrested 10 men including three players, a caretaker, two doormen, and four spectators aged from 28 to 65.
"We also seized two laptops, one modem, one router, six mobile phones, two mice, six access cards and RM700 cash.
"We have remanded all the suspects for further investigations," he said adding that the second premises had been operating for about a month prior to the raid.
