SEREMBAN (Bernama): A cleanliness operation mounted against 50 eateries offering tom yam meals in this city on Tuesday (April 16) resulted in 22 of them being ordered to close for 14 days to spruce up their premises.
The Ops Tomyam operation also saw the issuing of 156 notices involving fines amounting to RM42,450, said Negri Sembilan Health, Environment, Cooperatives and Consumerism Committee chairman S. Veerapan on Wednesday (April 17).
He said the operation, from 4pm to 11.30pm, was conducted by nine teams of 60 health enforcement officers.
Veerapan said offences included refrigerator freezers that were not kept to the right temperature and storing of food for too long.
Until March this year, some 1,417 eateries in Negri Sembilan were inspected and 14 of them were ordered to close for not having met the specifications on cleanliness. - Bernama
