PETALING JAYA: A nationwide search for eight-year-old Muhammad Zahiruddin Putra Mohd Fauzi is on, after he went missing on Monday (April 15).
The National Urgent Response (NUR) Alert system was activated after the missing boy's father lodged a police report at Bangi police station around 12.45am on Tuesday (April 16).
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said that Muhammad Zahiruddin Putra was last seen around 6pm on Monday, playing at a playground near his house in Bangi.
"The father had told the son to go home as it was raining. However, it was later found out that he did not return home.
"Muhammad Zahiruddin Putra's disappearance was only discovered when his mother noticed that he was not at home when she came from work around 7.30pm," he said when contacted on Tuesday.
A search in the nearby areas where he usually played did not yield anything.
Anyone with information on Muhammad Zahiruddin Putra's whereabouts should contact Sgt Farah Nadia Mohd Hashim at Kajang police headquarters on 012-3600232 or the nearest police station immediately.
