SANDAKAN: A man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a teenage boy at a house in Kampung Tinusa Dua here last Wednesday (April 10).

Police detained the 43-year-old man at the same house at approximately 9.40pm on Monday (April 15), almost a week after the 18-year-old victim was attacked with a parang.

The boy was reportedly about to go home after playing the online game "Mobile Legends" with his female friend, when the man started questioning his intention for coming to the house.

The suspect then swung a parang at the teenager and injured a few fingers on the victim's right hand in the process.

The boy is now in a stable condition after receiving treatment at a hospital and lodged a police report a few days after the incident.

Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin said the cops are still investigating other possible motives behind the assault.

He added that the weapon that was used to attack the victim was retrieved at the suspect's home a few hours after the arrest.

The suspect has been detained for four days at the Sandakan police headquarters to facilitate investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
