PETALING JAYA: The two teenage girls who went missing after celebrating the Tamil New Year together on Sunday were attempting to run away from home.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said both girls were found by one of their aunts at the KTM Batu Tiga station in Shah Alam at 2.30am yesterday.
“She brought the two girls to her house in Sungai Buloh.
“She only took them to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 7.30pm today (yesterday),” he said.
He said investigations revealed the girls ran away because one of them was unhappy with her mother.“We are taking their statements and will refer them to the University Malaya Medical Centre for medical evaluation,” said ACP Mohd Zani.
It was reported that M. Divyaa, 16, and N. Natshatra, 15, were last seen at the Maxwell Tower Condo, Jalan Gasing Indah, at 11.40pm on Sunday.According to Divyaa’s mother T. Shanthi, the two are school friends who had gone to a nearby temple for the Tamil New Year prayers.
“Divyaa then spent some time in Natshatra’s home, which is 10 minutes from our house.
“Around 11pm, she texted me that she was taking a Grab home but she never came home,” she said yesterday.
It is learnt that Natshatra had accompanied Divyaa downstairs to wait for the Grab ride, which was later cancelled.
One of the girls’ family members learnt from the condo’s security guard that he saw the two girls walking out of the apartment area together.
