SANDAKAN: Police are on the hunt for a 30-year-old man, who allegedly assaulted a teenage boy for playing the multiplayer online game 'Mobile Legends' with his female cousin at Kampung Tinusa Dua here last Wednesday (April 10).
The suspect reportedly got angry at the 18-year-old boy for coming to his house and attacked him with a parang at about 10.20pm.
The victim's right hand was wounded in the incident, and he lodged a police report a few days later.
Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin said initial investigations revealed that the victim went to his friend's house to play the online mobile game.
She lived with her grandfather and male cousin, who is the suspect.
The suspect lunged at the victim as he was going home, and asked him what his real intention was.
He swung the parang at the boy, and the weapon injured two fingers on the victim's right hand.
The teenager is now in a stable condition, after receiving treatment at a hospital.
When contacted on Monday (April 15), ACP Mohd Azhar said they are still tracking down the suspect, who is believed to have gone into hiding.
The case is being investigated as voluntarily causing hurt under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
