MIRI: A forest fire at the Sarawak-Brunei border is raging fiercely, that it can be seen 10km away from the South China Sea.
The fire is located about 30km north of Miri city in the Kuala Baram district.
An offshore worker at an oil rig in the South China Sea took pictures from the platform, showing the billowing smoke.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said the fire was so large, but there was no road access to douse it.
"That makes it very hard to reach by land," he said.
The sky over Kuala Baram was darkened by the huge columns of smoke due to the blaze.
As at 4.30pm Monday (April 15), the blaze seems to be getting from bad to worse.
