King, Queen convey Vaisakhi, Tamil New Year greetings

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah conveyed their greetings to those celebrating Vaisakhi and the Tamil New Year.

“Happy Vaisakhi to all our Punjabi friends. We wish you a wonderful start to the year filled with blessings, joy and prosperity,” their Majesties said in a posting on Istana Negara's Instagram account on Sunday (April 14).

To those marking the Tamil New Year, the King and Queen said: “Wishing all our Tamil friends a joyous, prosperous and blessed year ahead. Happy New Year!”

Vaisakhi marks the Punjabi and Sikh New Year and is also a spring harvest festival.

The Tamil New Year is the first day of the year on the Tamil calendar.  - Bernama
