SEREMBAN: The arrival of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the official tallying centre in Bandar Sri Sendayan after the win by Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was greeted with much song and dance by hundreds of Barisan Nasional supporters.

A crowd in very high spirits welcomed Umno leaders to the tallying centre at SJKC Bandar Sri Sendayan after the win by Umno deputy president Mohamad in Rantau yesterday.

Shouts of "Bossku" and "Hidup Najib (Long live Najib)!" were heard as he got caught up in the thick of the crowd.

"The young people have returned to us and realised that they made a mistake last general election.

" Mohamad's leadership was proven with his win as the Pakatan Harapan candidate was rejected, even though Pakatan leaders came down to campaign for him," said Najib.

Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, accompanied by his wife, was excited about the win as he rushed into the centre.

"This win is a signal that the people have rejected Pakatan Harapan in Negeri Sembilan," said Shahidan.

He said this when asked what the by-election win means for Umno.

Pandan Umno members, who were there in a group, said they came to show that the win by Mohamad was celebrated nationwide and not only in Rantau.

Klang Umno member Man Erin, together with a group of ten, came all the way to Rantau when he heard Mohamad had won.

He said that he was very happy with the win by his deputy president.

"We are very happy Tok Mat (as Mohamad is popularly known) has won as he is now standing in for our president," said Man.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is on garden leave.
