Three Perak GLC officers suspended amid probe into fraud, power abuse

IPOH: Three senior officers of a state government-linked company (GLC) have been suspended with immediate effect to allow investigations into alleged abuse of power and fraud.

In a statement issued Saturday (April 13), Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the decision was made during an emergency meeting Friday night (Apr12), followed by a police report made by the state secretariat special audit team.

“The meeting was held to go through the audit report in which suspicious elements of power abuse and fraud had been found since several years ago.

“A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision (MACC) report would be made in the near future,” Ahmad Faizal said.

However, the name of the GLC was not mentioned in the statement.

On Thursday (April 11), Ahmad Faizal accompanied his special officer to lodge a report at the state MACC over discrepancies in funding related to the development of a theme park here.
