JOHOR BARU: A 39-year-old woman was remanded a day to help in the investigation into the death of a four-month-old baby who is believed to have choked on milk.

The case is being probed under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence.

According to the boy’s father Muhd Hafez Mohamed, 31, he received a call from a babysitter at about 2pm on Tuesday, informing him that his son Haraz Mohd Hafez was unconscious.

Muhd Hafez then hurried to her house.

The baby was pronounced dead at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital later.

A post-mortem report showed that the baby died of “aspiration pneumonia”, which was due to milk entering his lungs, blocking them and causing a lack of oxygen.

Yesterday’s remand order was issued by the magistrate’s court senior assistant registrar, Nurhidayah Abd Manaf.
