Johor Umno chief: Muhyiddin for MB

JOHOR BARU: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) should be the next mentri besar of Johor, says state Umno chief Datuk Hasni Mohamed.

"He has the experience; he has been the Mentri Besar and Deputy Prime Minister," added Hasni.

He pointed out that Muhyiddin is also the Bukit Gambir assemblyman.

"For the betterment of Johor, Muhyiddin should become the next Mentri Besar," he said.

Hasni added that he would suggest Muhyiddin to Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar at an audience at Istana Pasir Pelangi on Friday (April 12).

He said that he would be meeting with His Majesty once Sultan Ibrahim returns from an overseas trip.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian resigned from his post on Monday (April 8). Following this, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the replacement must come from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Dr Sahruddin, the state Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee chairman, is widely regarded as the front runner but it is understood that the other Pakatan Harapan parties have also nominated their assemblymen for the top post.
