TH depositors to get 1.25% dividends for 2018

PUTRAJAYA: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will give a hibah (dividends) of 1.25% to its depositors for the 2018 financial year, the lowest in the history of the pilgrims fund.

Depositors were given a hibah of 4.5% for the 2017 financial year, with those who have not performed the haj being given an additional 1.75% bonus.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said this amounted to a payout of RM913mil in total for TH’s 9.3 million depositors.

In a press conference at the Putrajaya Islamic Complex here yesterday, Mujahid said TH suffered from “poor governance and mismanagement” under the previous Barisan Nasional government.“The Pakatan Harapan government inherited TH from the previous government in a sad state,” he said, adding that the previous government had given hibah to depositors without conforming to the Tabung Haji Act 1995.“Manipulation of account was done to distribute high hibah despite the growing deficit (between assets and liabilities).”
