Govt ordered to pay cartoonist Zunar RM1,000 over book ban

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Cartoonist Zunar has been granted RM1,000 in damages after his book “Sapuman: Man of Steal” was prohibited from being distributed and sold for 10 months by the Home Ministry two years ago.

Counsel Zaid Malek, who represented Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee SM Anwarul Haque, said Senior Assistant Registrar Firdaus Sidqi Sharil Azli ordered the government to pay damages after the order to prohibit the distribution and sale of the book dated Oct 3, 2017 was revoked on Aug 2 last year.
