Boy found drowned in reservoir of Miri water treatment plant

MIRI: An 11-year-old boy was found drowned at about 3pm on Friday (March 29) at the reservoir of a water treatment plant along the Miri-Bintulu highway in north Sarawak.

Hairi Iskandar of SK Lambir was found by a team from the Miri Fire and Rescue Department following an alert received at about noon.

Miri fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said they were told that a boy had gone missing in the reservoir after he went there to play with some friends.

Supt Law said the victim's friends said he fell into the reservoir and could not be found.

A probe is ongoing to learn how the boys managed to enter the reservoir, which is located about 15km from Miri.
