KUALA LUMPUR: The city has a new deputy police chief with Deputy Comm Datuk Roslan Bek Ahmad taking up the role.
The former Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order deputy director will assume the role effective immediately.
“It is a big challenge to be the deputy police chief of Kuala Lumpur.
“I am motivated to do my best with the help of the city’s finest and under the leadership of city police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim,” he said in a speech at the handing over of duties ceremony at city police headquarters on Tuesday (March 26).
DCP Roslan takes over duties from city CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Md Isa, who was also acting deputy police chief.
“I am committed to ensuring that the Kuala Lumpur police will be safe and secure by focusing on the eight core areas as determined by Comm Mazlan,” he said.
The areas are street crimes, drugs, gangsterism, illegal immigrants, terrorism, gambling, fraud, and street bullies.
