Seven roads near Dataran Merdeka to close for peace march on Saturday (March 23)

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven roads around Dataran Merdeka will be closed for the "Solidarity For Peace" march on Saturday (March 23).

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said police will close the roads from 5.30am until the event ends.

“The roads will be closed for the convenience of rally participants as well as other road users.

“We hope the public will comply with every directions given by Traffic police personnel on duty,” he said, adding that some 50 personnel will be deployed.
Those planning to drive their own vehicles can also opt to park at a few nearby destinations, including, Padang Merbok and several paid parking areas at Jalan Dang Wangi and shopping malls in the area, ACP Zulkefly said.

The seven roads that will be closed are as follows:

1. Jalan Hishamuddin - Jalan Raja (Susur Bukit Aman)
2. Lebuh Pasar Besar - Jalan Hishamuddin
3. Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman- Jalan Raja
4. Bulatan Dato Onn - Jalan Raja (near the Church/ Bank Rakyat)
5. Bulatan Dato Onn - Jalan Parlimen (from direction of Jalan Kuching)
6. Jalan Tun Perak - Leboh Ampang
7. Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman - Jalan Tun Perak

ACP Zulkefly said police will also consider closing other roads if the situation arises.

The optional roads are: 
1. Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman - Jalan Dang Wangi 
2. Jalan Sultan Ismail - Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman 
3. Jalan Munsyi Abdullah - Jalan Dang Wangi 
4. Jalan Dang Wangi - Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman
