AGGRESSION and alertness are a woman’s best defensive tools, stressed former Malaysian mixed martial arts queen Ann “Athena” Osman when conducting a self-defence workshop at the WOW! Fiesta yesterday. She taught 40 participants different tactics to ward off attacks such as “bend, weave and run” and “swing, catch wrist and pull down”.
“Although some participants were shy, most of them were eager to learn these simple techniques. Women were excited to practise the quick moves during the session,” said Ann, who was inspired to learn martial arts after a road bullying incident years ago.
