PETALING JAYA: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will close its Pasir Gudang campus for five days.
The Johor branch has suspended all campus operations, including lectures, from Thursday (March 13) until Sunday (March 17), the varsity said in a statement on Thursday (March 14).
This is in light of the recent spread of toxic pollution in the industrial town, with nearly a thousand people falling ill.
The government has ordered all 111 schools in Pasir Gudang to close pending further notice.
The decision, UiTM said, was based on the decision of the varsity's Johor branch state disaster operations committee meeting.
"All campus staff are advised to take safety measures such as wearing masks, reducing outdoor activities, avoiding contaminated areas, regularly drinking water from treated sources and getting immediate treatment if they experience symptoms such as eye irritation, difficulty in breathing and chest pain," it said.
