KUCHING: A group of big bikers are rumbling along the Pan Borneo Highway on a 3,000km ride to discover sabah and Sarawak.

Some 22 bikers from the Peninsula, Germany, Belgium and Taiwan are taking part in the Borneo Adventure Rally and experiencing the diverse culture, food and nature which both states have to offer.

They were flagged off by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Kuching Waterfront on Thursday (March 14).

Taiwanese biker Annette Chen said she looked forward to the ride, as this was her first time in Sarawak.

"I usually try to ride every weekend. I enjoy the speed and scenery while riding," the avid biker said.

The 10-day ride is organised by Malaysian motorcycle tour company FS Adventures, with local tour operator Pin Sing Travel and Tours providing ground support.

It is led by BMW GS Trophy marshal and rider Faizal Sukree, who is also a certified BMW Motorrad international tour guide and instructor.

The riders will make daily stops in Sibu, Miri and Lawas before continuing to Keningau, Tawau, Sandakan, Kinabalu Park, Kudat and Kota Kinabalu.

They will also go off-road to visit the Merarap hot spring in Lawas district.

The rally will end on March 23 in Kota Kinabalu.
