IPOH: Discussions are still ongoing over the 400ha plot of forest land for development, says Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).

He said based on information, it would take some time for both parties since the permit was granted recently.

“From what I was told, the company planned to collaborate with the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) for the development.

“Since the directors used to be part of MTIB, I am sure discussions will be done between them and MTIB officers,” said Ahmad Faizal after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Tourism Perak and Perak Transit Bhd yesterday.

In November last year, a letter stating that the government had approved the permit for a 400ha of forest plantation development project involving areas in Kledang Saiong and Bukit Kinta Forest went viral.

Ahmad Faizal had previously said the permit was granted to the company that had worked closely with MTIB.

However, on Feb 16, MTIB chairman Wong Tack denied its involvement in the project.

On another matter, Ahmad Faizal said the potential Umno-PAS alliance in Perak could affect the current state legislative assembly.

“I urge everyone from the media to the state committee members and assemblymen to stop highlighting the issue and instead, focus on serving the public.

“As the Perak Mentri Besar, my duty is to serve everyone. Perak Umno and PAS assemblymen also have the responsibility to serve those who voted for them,” he said.
