SEVERAL students from SJK (T) Rawang are participating in a science festival in Russia, thanks to the Malaysia Telugu Foundation (MTF), Makkal Osai reported.

The science innovation competition, which is taking place in St Petersburg between March 10 and 14, is a great opportunity for the students, MTF president Datuk Dr R. Kantharao Ackunaidu said.

This will give them the chance to expand their critical thinking while participating in an international conference with high standards.

Students from the Rawang school have shown great aptitude in such competitions and have won gold medals in the event before.

> A priest in India who was soothsaying while lying on a tree branch accidentally fell to his death, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The man, who was identified as Ayyasamy, apparently conducted the ceremony at the temple of his namesake Aiya Samy deity in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, every year during the annual festival.

As he was conducting the ritual while lying on a branch about six metres up, he lost his balance and fell to the ground.

He was rushed to hospital but died soon after.
