Melaka DOE tracks source of Sungai Chohong pollution

MELAKA (Bernama): Following numerous public complaints about Sungai Chohong in Jasin turning black and stinking, the Melaka Environment Department (DOE) launched an investigation and believes the source of the pollution is chicken rearing nearby and a waste disposal site on the border between Johor and Melaka.

Melaka housing, local government and environment committee chairman Datuk Tey Kok Kiew told Bernama, "An inspection at 11am Saturday (March 9) led to the discovery of black river water near Jalan Sialang, as well as fish carcasses along the riverbank.”
