IPOH: Pakatan Harapan will be better prepared for the Rantau state by-election in Negri Sembilan following its loss in Semenyih, says PKR election system committee chairman Dr Lee Boon Chye.
He said his party, which is expected to contest the seat, had a stronger election machinery in Rantau.
“I’m more confident of winning in Rantau. This is based on the (racial) composition and we will be more prepared.
“We just need to be better organised,” he told reporters after launching a hearing awareness programme at AEON Big Falim here yesterday.
He said Pakatan lost Semenyih partly due to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s election machinery.
“Bersatu, as a new party, did not have the necessary machinery to support the campaign,” he said.
The Gopeng MP and Deputy Health Minister said another cause of the defeat was the people’s grouses on bread and butter issues.
“The message from the voters is loud and clear. We are listening, not just hearing.
“People voted Barisan not because they like Umno. It was a vote of protest,” he said.
“We have to look into and address the cost of living issue,” he said.
