KOTA KINABALU: Efforts are being taken to ensure that Sabah’s Kota Belud district gets enough water supply for the next padi planting season, says state Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Junz Wong.

He said with the district facing water shortage, and Kota Belud being one of Sabah’s main padi producers, it was vital that the matter was resolved.

“We are taking steps to ensure that Kota Belud padi farmers get enough water before the next planting season, which is in a few months time,” he said in a statement here Sunday (March 3).

Wong said the current dry season is expected to continue throughout the month and in some areas until April.
