SEMENYIH: Barisan Nasional candidate Zakaria Hanafi has lodged a police report after discovering some provocative banners while on his campaign trail in Beranang town.
In his report, Zakaria said the banners contained the words Undilah BN jika ingin rompakan (Datin Seri) Rosmah (Mansor) berulang (Vote BN if you want Rosmah to rob again), Saya janji bawa Rosmah jika BN menang di Semenyih (I will bring Rosmah over if BN wins in Semenyih), and 1MDB & Jho Low rekaan PH untuk jatuhkan BN (sic) YAB Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan Datin Seri Rosmah tidak bersalah (1MDB & Jho Low are PH’s creations to bring down BN (sic) Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah are innocent).
He said his picture was also on the banner.
Zakaria stated that he lodged the report yesterday in order for the Election Commission (EC) to take action.
“I never ordered or instructed anyone to put up such provocative banners,” he said in his report.
Meanwhile, Kajang Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Abdullah confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 4(A) of the Election Offences Act 1954 for promoting feelings of ill will or hostility.
Last Saturday, independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng’s camp also lodged a report involving campaign banners.
In the Feb 23 incident, Kuan’s aide reported that his banners were destroyed by an unknown individual.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
