Robber killed during burglary attempt at house in Sungkai


TAPAH: A robber was killed during a robbery attempt at a house in Taman Okid Jaya, Sungkai here.

Tapah OCPD Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the victim, identified as 31-year-old A. Govan was found unconscious at the house by the police on Tuesday (Feb 26) at about 3.15am.

“We received a call from the public about an argument that broke out at the house earlier at about 2.45am.

“When the police arrived, we found bruises on the man’s lips, eyes, head and body,” he said in a statement.

Supt Wan Azharuddin said based on their investigation, the victim and two others, armed with a machete, had tried to rob six men from Pakistan, who were staying at the house.

“A scuffle broke out between the two group of men. One of the foreigners injured his left arm when attempting to stop one of the robbers who was armed,” he said.

“The foreign men had also lodged a police report about the incident,” he added.

Supt Wan Azharuddin said the matter has been classified as murder and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The body has been brought to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

“The six foreigners have been arrested and will be remanded for seven days until March 4,” he said.
