Zahid: Voting behaviour now different from GE14

SEMENYIH: As the March 2 by-election looms, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) is confident that Barisan Nasional will retake the Semenyih state seat.

He said this is because voting behaviour is different compared to the 14th General Election.

Dr Ahmad Zahid said that the election mood in the Cameron Highlands by-election was felt in Semenyih as well.

“I don’t feel that voters in Semenyih are still feeling the same way as during GE14. This is very different," he added.

“May this (support) be translated (on polling day),” said Dr Ahmad Zahid when met after attending prayers at Surau An-Nur in Semenyih on Saturday (Feb 23) night.

Barisan won with a 3,238 majority in the previous Cameron Highlands polls, an improvement from its 597-vote lead at the 14th General Election.

The Semenyih polls, which are set to take place on March 2, will see a four-cornered fight between Barisan, Pakatan Harapan, Parti Sosialis Malaysia and an independent candidate.
